Talent Recruitment Efforts Go on the Road to Support Regional Workforce Development

Greater Dubuque Development Represents Workforce Solutions Investors in Cedar Falls and Iowa City, Iowa, as well as Eau Claire, Wisconsin

At Greater Dubuque Development, our commitment to fostering regional economic growth often takes our staff on the road, connecting talent in adjacent markets with opportunities in the Greater Dubuque region. We concentrate our efforts on recruiting a skilled workforce that will address the evolving demands of our regional employers. This focus led us to actively participate in two prominent college career fairs in February: one at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, IA, and the other at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA.

During these events, we connected with graduating students as well as undergraduates eager to explore summer internship opportunities in the Greater Dubuque region that align with their respective fields of study. Our team engaged one-on-one with 49 students representing a diverse range of majors, from computer science to mechanical engineering, directing them to AccessDubuqueJobs.com. This platform showcases a multitude of internship and career prospects awaiting them in our thriving market.

Additionally, in response to the January 22, 2024 announcement of the closures of HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital, HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital, and all Prevea Health locations in Western Wisconsin’s Chippewa Valley, we expanded our February outreach to Eau Claire, WI. Partnering with the West Central Wisconsin Workforce Development Board, we joined the Rapid Response Team to support the approximately 1,082 HSHS and 325 Prevea workers and physicians affected by these closures.

In our commitment to assisting impacted workers in finding new opportunities aligned with their skills and goals, we attended the Eau Claire Community Job Fair, representing our regional healthcare industry partners. Connecting with affected workers on a personal level, we shared materials from employers about the area while helping them explore AccessDubuqueJobs.com to seamlessly connect with prospective employers in the Greater Dubuque region. To amplify our on-the-ground outreach, a multi-week digital ad campaign was strategically targeted at job seekers in the affected region, reinforcing the message that opportunities in the healthcare industry are abundant in the Greater Dubuque region.

Our mission was clear in all of our recruitment efforts: connect with and communicate to new talent joining the workforce or to displaced workers looking for new opportunities that the Greater Dubuque region is one where YOUR CAREER can be great here.
