Housing Programs Luncheon Event Coming May 31

Featuring Debi Durham, Iowa Finance Authority Director

Coordinated by Dubuque Main Street in collaboration with a number of community partners, the Housing Business Luncheon will highlight information on state and local financial programs to promote the development of and access to housing in the Dubuque area. The keynote speaker will be Debi Durham, Director of the Iowa Finance Authority and Iowa Economic Development Authority. Tickets are $23.50 per person and include lunch. Advance registration is required.

The event has been developed for professionals involved in mortgage lending/brokerage, real estate and development, business lending, construction, and affordable housing advocacy to assist them in their efforts to address the area’s housing shortage and connect people to financial resources and housing opportunities. Business leaders and executives and human resources directors are also encouraged to attend as they assist their employees find rental housing or purchase homes.

Presentations will provide the latest information on the financial programs and tools available to support and leverage:

  • Creation of all types of new housing.
  • Rehabilitation of existing housing.
  • Renter and rental property owner programs.
  • Home ownership and first-time home buyer programs. 

Details on accessing loan programs, tax credits, trust fund programs, down payment and closing cost assistance programs, and more will be shared. In addition to Director Durham’s presentation, staff from Dubuque Main Street, the City of Dubuque, and Greater Dubuque Development will present information.

“The purpose of the event is to highlight the resources, tools, and programs that are available to improve quality, affordable housing opportunities in the Dubuque area and connect people to those resources,” said Dubuque Mayor Brad Cavanagh.  “We hope staff from our area financial institutions, real estate companies, developers, non-profits involved in housing, and more will attend.”

The event is being coordinated by Dubuque Main Street will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at the Grand River Center in Dubuque, IA. 

The cost to attend is $23.50 per person, which includes lunch.  Tables for eight can be purchased for $188.  Registration is required and tickets can be purchased online at https://www.dubuquemainstreet.com/housingluncheon.
