Universal Tank & Fabrication Announces Expansion: A Major Boost for Dubuque’s Economic Growth

Universal Tank & Fabrication, a key Dubuque-based manufacturer, is growing again! Announced in early November, the company plans a $4.065 million expansion, adding 15 high-quality jobs and enhancing production capacity. This project is a win for the Greater Dubuque region and reflects continued investment in innovation, workforce, and community collaboration.

Dan Davis, President of Universal Tank & Fabrication, shared the company’s enthusiasm, “This expansion allows us to create greater efficiencies, reduce bottlenecks, and position ourselves for further growth. We’re grateful for the continued support of our community, contractors, customers, and employees who make this possible.”

Public-Private Partnerships at Work
This project is made possible through strong partnerships and economic support, demonstrating a collaborative effort to grow Dubuque’s manufacturing sector:

  • City of Dubuque: A 10-year Tax Increment Financing (TIF) rebate of property taxes.
  • Iowa Economic Development Authority: A $155,000 investment tax credit and $120,000 sales tax rebate.
  • Northeast Iowa Community College: Preliminary approval of $150,000 in job training assistance through the Iowa New Jobs Training Program (260E).

Jason White, VP of Business Services at Greater Dubuque Development Corporation, emphasized the broader impact, “Universal Tank & Fabrication is a shining example of homegrown innovation and growth. This expansion reflects the strength of Greater Dubuque’s manufacturing ecosystem and the collaborative spirit of our community partners.”
