Tri-State Practitioners Advance Regional Collaboration

To build on existing state-level partnerships and explore opportunities that extend beyond state lines, the Tri-State Economic Development Practitioners—a collaborative network convened by Greater Dubuque Development—met on Tuesday, April 16.  The group includes representatives from eight counties across Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin, most working for publicprivate nonprofit organizations dedicated to advancing economic growth.

The region already benefits from strong formal collaborations within each state, including Prosperity Eastern Iowa, Prosperity Southwest Wisconsin, and the Northeast Illinois Economic Development Council. Building on those foundations, the April discussion centered on how a united regional population of more than 250,000, paired with exceptional quality of life and a strong sense of place, can unlock new possibilities.

The group explored opportunities such as jointly engaging site selectors for business recruitment, aligning legislative advocacy across state lines, and promoting the region as a destination of choice for new talent. Population growth emerged as a shared priority for all participating counties.

As the network continues to evolve, Greater Dubuque Development looks forward to expanding participation, bringing additional strategic partners to the table, and advancing collaborative strategies that support long-term regional growth.
