MZH Development Breaks Ground on New Dubuque Housing

Local developer Matt Henick broke ground August 17, 2026, on three duplexes at West 32nd Street and Carter Road in Dubuque. The MZH Development project will add six housing units to an infill site in the City of Dubuque.

Greater Dubuque Development worked with Henick to help move the project forward, attending City of Dubuque Design Review Team meetings on his behalf and working with the City of Dubuque’s Planning Services Department to identify and address barriers and keep the project moving on an efficient timeline.

Henick moved to Dubuque in 2015 to attend Loras College and chose to stay and build his career here. Since 2019, he has grown MZH Properties, continuing to invest in the community through local real estate development. He also co-founded Premier Property Management Group, which serves Dubuque, Dyersville, and Davenport. Premier Property Management Group is an investor in Greater Dubuque Development, supporting the organization’s work to grow the region.

“Matt does his homework, and his work ethic is second to none,” said Daniel McDonald, Director of Existing Business for Greater Dubuque Development. “The Greater Dubuque region is better because of visionary trailblazers like Matt Henick.”

“Matt is bringing needed housing to our market in the form of duplexes, helping us meet our goals of accommodating individuals and families who want to settle in our community. Adding to our housing supply can also help improve affordability. Greater Dubuque Development salutes Matt and his team for their continued confidence and investment in the region,” said Greater Dubuque Development's President & CEO, Jason White.
