Canadian Trade Commissioner Visits Dubuque Businesses Facilitated by Greater Dubuque Development

Greater Dubuque Development often works behind the scenes to connect the dots for existing businesses—supporting dozens of needs ranging from workforce to international trade. On Monday, October 13, the organization’s Business Services team coordinated a series of meetings and tours for Allan J. Edwards, Consul and Senior Trade Commissioner with the Consulate General of Canada, to strengthen cross-border relationships and explore opportunities for collaboration with regional employers.

During his visit, Edwards met with leaders from PBS Systems and Unison Solutions, two Dubuque-based companies with active trade and business ties in Canada. The agenda included informal discussions with Colleen Callahan, Director of U.S. Support Operations at PBS Systems, as well as with Dave Broihahn, Founder; Adam Klass, Director of Business Development; and Cass Lundgren, President & CEO of Unison Solutions. The visit also featured a tour of the Dubuque Industrial Center West and concluded with a working dinner at Vinny Vanucchi’s Little Italy in downtown Dubuque.

Greater Dubuque Development’s Daniel McDonald, Director of Existing Business, and Jason White, Vice President of Business Services, facilitated the visit—underscoring the importance of relationships in today’s fast-moving global economy.

“In a world that is large, ever-changing, and moving fast, personal connections matter now more than ever,” said McDonald. “Often, it’s knowing someone and having that firsthand experience that builds business connections and opportunities.”

Greater Dubuque Development extends its appreciation to Commissioner Edwards and to the leadership teams at PBS Systems and Unison Solutions for their collaboration and shared commitment to advancing international trade and regional economic growth.
