Greater Dubuque Development is expanding the visibility of area employers through a fall tour of college orientation events and on-campus career fairs designed to connect college students with opportunities available in the Greater Dubuque region.
Campus outreach provides opportunities to promote the YOU can be great here Community of Colleges event series and introduce students to AccessDubuqueJobs.com. Whether seeking part-time work during the academic year, an internship, or a full-time position after graduation, students can use the regional jobs platform to discover opportunities with Greater Dubuque employers.
At Clarke University, 250 AccessDubuqueJobs.com flyers were distributed directly to incoming students during orientation sessions held before classes began. Mandi Dolson, Director of Workforce Solutions, also met with students in person at the Emmaus University Student Life Expo on August 24, Loras College Campus Fest on August 26, Clarke University Involvement Fair on August 31, and Northeast Iowa Community College Community Organization & Wellness Fair on September 1.
Having a Workforce Solutions team member present gives students a personal connection to the Greater Dubuque region and a direct point of contact who can help them navigate local employment resources, connect with area employers, and feel more at home in the community.
Together, these interactions help students become more familiar with the region and the professional opportunities available to them. Strengthening that connection while students are enrolled can encourage more graduates to begin their careers and build their futures in Greater Dubuque.
