The Iowa,Chicago & Eastern Railroad Corp. (IC&E) currently operates the rail line along the Mississippi River. With tracks that run north and south through Dubuque and daily switching service, IC&E has become a partner with Dubuque area businesses in their rail transportation systems. The Canadian National/ Illinois Central (CN/IC) offers intermodal facilities in Dubuque and daily switching service.
The Dubuque Industrial Center West is located adjacent to the CN/IC rail line with spur options available. The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad Company (BNSF) operates a line across the river from Dubuque and serves the Dubuque area via trackage rights over another railroad.
